The steel support plate stays ultra-flat with no dishing. Optimum diamond spacing prevents loading of the abrasive surface with filings. An engraved hardwood cover protects each stone when it is not in use. Diamond abrasives require no messy sharpening oils or lubricating liquids. Rubber feet secure the stone to the work surface.
